2. How to become citizen is placed in which Article?

The way a person can become citizen is mentioned in Article 5 to 8.

3. What are the benefits and bounding of OCI (overseas citizen of India)?

Citizenship act amendment in 2003 states that people of Indian origin except Pakistan and Bangladesh are eligible to be registered as OCI who gain benefits like multiple visa, entry , lifelong visa, live and work in India. But they cannot hold government office and cannot vote. All persons of Indian origin (PIO) deemed to be OCI from 9th Jan 2015.

One domicile. No separate domicile for the state.

Four times, 1986, 1992, 2003, 2005

6. What is citizenship amendment act 1992?

According to this act the child who is born outside India and if his mother belongs to India can have the Indian citizenship. Before this act, any child born outside India could acquire citizenship only if his father was a citizen of India.

7. According to Citizenship act 1955 what are the ways to become citizen?

It states that there are five ways to become citizen:

* By birth if born in and after 26th Jan 1950

* By descent if father was citizen between 26th Jan 1950 and 10th Dec 1992

* By registration

* By naturalization like foreigner living for 12 yrs

* Acquiring of territory when people of new area become citizen


8. According to Citizenship act 1955 what are the ways to lose citizenship?

Following are the ways:

* By renunciation (being citizen of other country)

* By termination (voluntary citizen of other country)

* By deprivation (found disloyal to const etc)


9. With reference to Pakistan how can citizenship be gained for India?

Indian citizenship can be gained if:

* person who migrated to Pakistan after march 1, 1947 but returned to India under a permit for resettlement

* person who migrated to India from Pakistan before 19th July, 1948 and since then ordinarily residing in India

* person who migrated after 19th July, 1948 but got themselves registered as citizens from competent officer appointed for that purpose
