Postal Zones in India

 There are nine postal zones in India. Out of these nine zones, eight are regional zones and one is functional zone for the Indian Army. The first digit of a PIN indicates the zone and is allocated over the 9 zones as follows:

The combination of first two digits along with sometimes the third digit represents a specific geographical region. However there is an exception in the case of the functional zone for the Army. The following table represents it:
